Juvéderm® ULTRA (Dermal Filler)

For many people, the younger they look, the better they feel about themselves. Age, hormones, sun exposure and smoking can all cause fine lines and wrinkles to develop; skin feels more fragile and less elastic.

Juvéderm® is a gentle and long lasting treatment that can give your face a soft lift without the need for surgery. Juvéderm® is a new category of dermal filler with hyaluronic acid - a substance that occurs naturally in the body. Hyaluronic acid not only fills wrinkles but also gently replaces what the skin has lost over time.

It is also the only filler to contain Lidocaine: a built-in local anaesthetic to make the whole process a more comfortable experience.

Dermal Fillers are a popular choice because they effectively diminish the signs of ageing and rehydrate the skin tissue. Treatment is quick, convenient and the results can be seen straight away.

International Academy of Aesthetic Facial AcademicsDermal fillers – The Treatment

A dermal filler procedure helps to “fill out” and smooth away troublesome:

  • Nose to Mouth Grooves
  • Forehead Lines
  • Frown Furrows
  • Lipstick Lines
  • Crows Feet

Dermal Fillers are also effective for increasing fullness to narrow lips, enhancing sunken cheeks and can even be used to contour the bridge of the nose.

Prior to a dermal fillers treatment
Prior to your treatment you will have a consultation where all your questions are answered and assessed for your suitability to proceed. As Juvéderm® contains lidocaine, a local anaesthetic within the gel, there is no need for any additional anaesthetic to be applied, as with other types of dermal filler.

Following a dermal filler treatment
A dermal filler treatment can be very quick and effective and have a minimal impact on your time. The procedure can be completed in as little as 15 minute but it can be longer depending on which areas are being treated. It is common to have some redness and swelling following treatment, although this usually resolves after a few hours and the results can be seen instantly.

How long will a dermal fillers treatment last?
You will probably not need to have another treatment for around 6-9 months. A great advantage of a dermal filler treatment like Juvéderm® is that they are long lasting, but not permanent, which allows you the option to reassess your needs, once the initial effects have worn off.

Botox® Muscle Relaxant treatment (MRT)

MRT is an ideal treatment for anyone who has concerns about forehead creases, frown lines and crows feet. The treatment still allows expressions to show on the face which is why so many patients feel they do not have to tell work colleagues, friends, partners that they are having treatments.

Many people choose to have MRT treatments to look fresher, less tired, less stressed and ultimately younger. It's always a good idea to prevent wrinkles rather than having to deal with them as and when they appear and this is where MRT is so effective.

It's also a great starter treatment if you've never had a cosmetic treatment before and can be wonderful to add the finishing touch to both post eyelid and face lift surgical patients.

MRT is incredibly versatile and can be combined holistically with other treatments (such as dermal fillers) to encompass total rejuvenation of the face; this is why it is so important to attend a registered clinician so that you can be given all the information to make an informed decision about your unique treatment plan.

MRT – The Treatment
MRT is the only treatment that directly tackles the cause of dynamic lines by weakening the muscle that causes the skin to wrinkle. Dermal fillers, which are injected just below the surface of the skin into the line or wrinkle, aim to temporarily fill the line.

MRT is often used in combination with other treatments (such as dermal fillers) Your clinician will be able to advise you on the treatment plan which is most suitable for you, to achieve your desired results.

Prior to a MRT treatment
Prior to your treatment you will have a consultation where all your questions are answered and assessed for your suitability to proceed.

Following a MRT treatment
Small amounts of MRT are injected, using a disposable syringe, into the  muscles that have caused the skin to to crease and furrow. As MRT is injected directly into the wrinkles, the facial muscles are temporarily relaxed and the formation of wrinkles is prevented, whilst existing lines softened.

Because a very fine needle is used, most patients find that there is only a mild and temporary discomfort. The entire procedure usually takes no longer than 10 minutes.

This treatment has been used on over 1 million patients worldwide for almost 20 years and is supported by a wealth of long-term safety data.

How long will a MRT treatment last?
You will probably not need to have another MRT treatment for around 3-4 months. Following repeated treatment, the effects tend to last for a longer period of time. The clinician will discuss with you the results which you can expect to see and advise repeat treatments that will be suitable for you. If you have a good result, please note that,as recommended by the manufacturers of MRT we aim not to perform any “top-up” treatments within a 3 month period following your treatment.

If your original lines are not deep, you should see a significant reduction in the depth and length of your original lines treated after one year, as the skin has a chance to regenerate without constantly being creased by the underlying muscles.

If your lines are very deep, the Clinician may also discuss the additional use of dermal fillers,or other complementary treatments to get the best results.
